Mr Day is starring in the Queen musical We Will Rock You in Edinburgh

Entertainer Darren Day has been arrested on suspicion of drinking and driving in Edinburgh.

The 41-year-old spent the night in police cells after being stopped in the Leith area of the city early on Friday morning.

Officers were investigating reports that a vehicle had struck a lamp post in the city.

Mr Day is due to appear at the city’s Sheriff Court. The Mercedes 4×4 he was in has been seized by police.

He is in the Scottish capital playing a starring role in the Queen musical We Will Rock You.
